Why Renovation is Necessary

With more toddlers -- of varying abilities -- accessing the playground now than ever before, we felt it was time to revitalize our playground so every toddler can benefit from an outdoor play space rich with opportunity to explore, be challenged and be successful.

When it was built in 1994, our toddler playground was adequate in meeting the needs of the young children in our programs. Now, 16 years later, experience and research have informed our design.

• Innovations in play equipment offer children of all abilities the opportunity to more fully utilize play spaces
• Safety standards have increased and materials have been made more durable
• Our value for "green" practices informed the way the equipment is manufactured. Plus, the play space will be integrated with the natural environment of Minnehaha Creek and incorporate play pieces like logs and rocks.
