Renovation Update

In 2011, on the heels of a comprehensive strategic planning process, the Board and staff leadership of St. David's Center charged Pope Architects with designing a building that better aligns our campus with the services we provide. The resulting two-phase renovation project is underway!

The goals of Phase One Renovation include:

  • Update outdated and inefficient mechanical systems, replacing boilers that range from 45 to 55 years old, to improve energy efficiency and realize decreased expenses long-term.
  • Build a Children's Mental Health Clinic for our outpatient therapies as well as clinical practices embedded in other St. David's Center services by adding six assessment and treatment rooms and aligning space with exceptional practices in individual, group, family and play therapy.
  • Create multi-disciplinary Autism Day Treatment rooms, meeting both growing community need and complexity in individual needs in innovative treatment spaces with adjoining classroom and therapy gyms.
  • Increase occupational therapy treatment space and renovate speech therapy treatment rooms so that spaces reflect our exceptional practices and better meet the needs of the community.
  • Improve staff collaboration and efficiencies by creating adequate work spaces that align with needs for adjacency and teaming.

As of January 2012, we renovated our speech therapy treatment rooms. The new spaces are sized to allow for more movement in treatment sessions - a huge motivator for children. Additionally, the rooms are equipped with viewing windows to allow parents to participate in treatment as fully as possible. Workspace and mission are clearly being more closely-aligned through projects like this one.

We also updated our mechanical systems and relocated our administration team to begin remodeling for our Children's Mental Health Clinic.
