We are Accredited!
St. David's Early
Childhood Program is an early childhood education program that is
accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young
Children (NAEYC).
Also featuring Early Childhood Outreach & Consultation!
St. David's Early Childhood Outreach & Consultation (ECOC) is a new service supporting the teachers of our
Early Childhood Program. ECOC consultants are selected from St. David's staff, who have professional training in
areas of early child development.
By joining with parents, teachers, and other community resources, the ECOC consultants aim to help provide a
more supportive learning environment in the classroom. The desired outcomes include improved day-to-day social
and emotional functioning of all children in the classroom, and improved systems of communication and collaboration
between parents, childcare providers, and children.
How ECOC affects your child's classroom:
ECOC consultants observe individual children and group dynamics within a classroom. Then, based on their observations,
the consultants strategize with teachers individually and in groups. Staff are trained on early childhood mental health,
and communication is facilitated between the staff and parents. Developmental playgroups are also implemented, to enhance
the child's individual and group function in the classroom. If necessary, families are provided with referrals for
additional services.
