Highlights
Celebrate with us!
The St. David's Center Fall Festival: Celebrating 50 Years will take place on Saturday, September 25, 2010. This family event will include some of the same attractions you've grown to love like horse-drawn hayrides, live animals and woodsy crafts - plus much more!

Where Everybody Belongs
At St. David's Center, inclusion is not a practice or an educational strategy, it is a value. Learn how preschool children, like Jonathan, benefit when they have opportunities to play and learn side-by-side with children of all abilities. Watch video.

Play for All
This fall, St. David's Center will launch the first toddler playground in Minnesota combining inclusive and natural play elements. Learn more.

Hall of Fame of Schools
As a parent of two children who attended St. David's Center, 2010 Pro Football Hall of Fame Inductee John Randle served as honorary co-chair of our 2010 Gala with his wife Candace and refered to St. David's Center as the "hall of fame of schools" in a Vikings Weekly interview.

Family Place
Family Place is an early childhood program for families with children between the ages of 2.5 to five years who are facing multiple obstacles in successfully parenting their children. We serve communities through the Western suburbs, including St. Louis Park, Hopkins, Minnetonka, Eden Prairie and Plymouth.
Family Place was founded on the principle that a high degree of family involvement is essential for the successful development of young children.
While parents in the program build their parenting and relationship skills, children attend a therapeutic preschool that promotes social and emotional development. Parents collaborate with Family Place staff to identify and address the developmental needs of their children and examine approaches to parenting that work for their families.
Family Place provides:
- Therapeutic preschool classrooms
- Therapeutic family support and advocacy
- Play therapy
- Parent-child interaction
- Family group activities
- Home visits
- Referrals to community resources
- Collaboration with music and occupational therapists to maximize social/emotional school readiness
Family Place Preschool Schedule
Classes are held year-round on the following schedule:
Morning option: 8:45 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.
Afternoon option: 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
In some instances, transportation can be arranged to and from preschool.
Payment/Funding
Family Place is funded primarily by the Hennepin County Department of Children and Family Services. Additional funding for Family Place comes from the United Way, local foundations, corporations and individual donations. Insurance may be required to cover the cost of some services.
Referrals
Anyone can refer a family to Family Place. Referrals are often made by psychologists, social workers, health care professionals, preschool programs and concerned caregivers. To refer a child or family, call 952-939-0396 and ask for the Family Place Program Director.
