Mental Health Skills Training
The Mental Health
Skills Training program (formerly known as Mental Health Behavioral Aides)
supports and treats children
between the ages of 4-18 with various mental health diagnoses.
The program allows for skills trainers to work with recipients on specific, individualized
treatment goals that focus on the child's unique emotional and
behavioral needs. An important aspect of this service is the
collaboration between the skills trainer and the parent(s)/guardian(s) on the
child’s treatment and goal progress. These services are
typically offered at a location in the community or within the child's home.
What are the
Funding Sources?
Funding comes from Medical Assistance, Tefra
or Medical Assistance PMAP’s (we currently work with Medica, UCare,
and MHP PMAP’s). Recipients may also be authorized for service
through County Mental Health Services, including the Children’s
Mental Health Collaborative, Children and Family Services.
What are the
different services that the Skills Training program provides?
The goals for the
clients in this program vary depending on the needs of the
individuals being served, their parent or family situations, and the
type of placements in which they are currently involved. Examples of
goals in the individualized treatment plan may include: promoting
various anger management skills and coping skills, working with a
child who is suicidal on ways to keep him/her safe, and assisting a
child with self esteem issues.
